James Patrick Freetly is a screenwriter working in feature-length narrative film. He is a graduate of the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting, where he developed two of his five completed feature screenplays. The remaining three were developed independently, using the same process of outlining, drafting, table reads, and revision.
His writing is character-driven, built around the relationships, humor, and conflict that emerge when people are put under pressure. He continues to write and revise new feature-length material.
Background
Before turning to screenwriting, James worked as an actor and as a photographer. Those backgrounds inform his approach to character, performance, composition, and visual storytelling, but they are not the current focus of his work — screenwriting is.
